Big Chutzpah Energy

Hi!

I’m Michelle - the overnight matchmaker! I live in Toronto and I am happily married with three beautiful kids in our blended family.

I am an educator by trade with over 20 years in the field. I’ve had several successful relationships (and even successful break ups), and have always had a knack for people, philanthropy, the arts, community connection and Jewish life!

My weird and winding Jewish journey has led me to a place of knowing many people from across many ages, stages and places. This makes me uniquely connected and it’s time to put that power to good use!

A middle-aged man and a young woman are standing outdoors, close together, smiling at the camera. The man has short gray hair, a beard, and is wearing a black shirt. The woman has long brown hair, light makeup, and is wearing a black top. They are embracing with the man's arms around the woman's shoulders and the woman's hands on the man's chest. The background shows trees and a cloudy sky, with a blurred view of cars and snow on the ground.

How it Started

Way, way back many centuries ago... Or, more accurately, just over a decade ago, I set up my very first couple.

At the time, I had just started casually seeing someone from my Birthright trip (classic, I know). Around the same time, I attended a friend's wedding where I met a nice Jewish boy who asked me out. Not knowing where things would go with my Birthright crush, I took his number... just in case.

A few weeks later, the crush had officially become my boyfriend, and I found myself at a Rosh Hashanah dinner hosted by family friends. There, I met a nice Jewish girl who asked the question every Jewish single eventually asks:

"Do you know anyone for me?"

As it happened, I did!

I introduced her to the nice Jewish boy from the wedding, and the rest is history. Today, they're happily married and raising a beautiful family. (Hi, J & S!)

Fast forward to 2026.

I'm sitting in my office on my lunch break when I overhear a colleague saying she'd love to find her younger brother a wife.

Wanting to help, I offered to post about him on my social media to see if anyone might be interested. Within an hour, more than 50 people had responded, either expressing interest themselves or recommending someone they knew. I was blown away.

Then another friend asked if I'd do the same for her. So I did!

More messages. More referrals. More introductions.

In a moment of equal parts excitement and overwhelm, I threw together a Google Form to keep track of everyone.

Only two weeks later, more than 750 Jewish singles from across the country had signed up. I now know that this is not normal, and is an absolute phenomenon in the matchmaking world!

What started as a favour for a colleague quickly became something much bigger: a community of incredible Jewish singles looking for meaningful connection.

Matchmaking Career

As fate (and perhaps a very persistent Jewish higher power) would have it, I had already quit my job, and my last day was just two weeks away.

The plan was to start a Holistic Health Coaching program.

The universe, however, appeared to have other ideas.

Not to be dramatic, but it felt a little like Moses and the burning bush. I whispered into the void, and the void screamed back, "MATCH THE JEWS."

So I did what any reasonable person would do: I put the course on hold, started a spreadsheet, and began building a matchmaking business.

And here we are!
