Yes.
Culture or religion-based matchmaking is a common practice among many different religions and cultures. People within these communities often share customs, traditions, histories and prefer to stay within their culture or religion for that reason.
Jewish matchmaking is a tradition that goes back thousands of years. It goes all the way back to the Torah and Abraham asking Eliezer to find a wife (Rebecca) for his son Isaac!
In Judaism, we believe in the concept of “bashert”, or a divine soulmate. It is said that matches made in heaven and a matchmaker (shadchan) has the honour of bringing these two souls together here on earth.
You can identify as Orthodox, Modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Traditional, Secular/Culturally Jewish to be in the database. Different sects of Judaism may have different sizes of applicants in the pool, but you just never know!

The vast majority of members live in the Greater Toronto Area.
I currently have a selection of people outside of Toronto in other major cities across Canada (Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, etc.)
It’s a much smaller pool, so we can certainly chat and see if there’s a match for you there!
Who knows what the future might look like? Keep sharing with friends!

If I have spots available, we set up a 1:1 discovery call to see if it’s a good fit (personality, mindset, pool size, etc.). If it is, we go from there!
Right now, I’ve paused discovery calls as I am booking 2 months out! Check back soon for updates.

I work with a limited number of paid clients at a time in order to ensure that each person gets the time and attention they deserve. Right now, my spots are capped at 20 individuals.
Once my paid client spots are full, interested clients will be in a waiting pool.
A waiting pool is different from a waiting list, and does not move in chronological order.
Those in the waiting pool will be notified when a spot opens up. While waiting for an active matchmaking spot, you'll remain visible and may still be considered for introductions to clients currently in the matchmaking process.

Paid clients receive 1:1 curated matchmaking services tailored to their profile and preferences. Paid clients are matched with people from the growing member database.
Members in the free database have access to Matched x Michelle events and are matched with the paid clients when compatibility allows.

You must be an adult to join the database. We currently have community members ranging from 18-75 on the list!

I’m fun, optimistic, honest and a straight shooter. I expect my clients to be open-minded to conversations and to trust the process! It requires patience, a yes-man attitude, and willingness to take a leap of faith, but sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed.
I’m accessible to you, but also have work-life balance and boundaries on my working hours.

This ain’t Tinder!
The singles community has become conditioned to make an immediate judgement based on a photo because of the influence of dating apps. Obviously, I know the importance of physical chemistry! However, working with a matchmaker goes deeper into the art of finding people who connect on multiple levels.
One of my few rules is to be open-minded.
A conversation or even a coffee date doesn’t mean you are signing up for a lifetime together. It’s not a waste of time to explore options, especially if there are many things between you that are aligned.
At minimum, conversations with new people you wouldn’t have otherwise met, open the door for new experiences, and better understanding what you want or don’t want in a partner.
-
I work with my curated matchmaking clients to do an in-depth intake call and really understand what they are looking for in a partner beyond what they’ve filled out in their form.
Then, using my database, I start with basic biographical elements which narrows down my very large list - gender, sexuality, age, and level of Jewish observance.
Then I look into the soft details - lifestyle, activity habits, work, core values, etc.
Physical features are a consideration, but core values alignment is really a top priority.
I try to find potential connections where it makes the most sense, but also encourage my clients to be open-minded.
-
The quick answer is, I can’t vet everyone due to the sheer size of the database. I do have short conversations with people before matching them and if something feels off, I trust my instincts.
I do not run criminal, background, or financial checks on members and everyone is responsible for their own safety.
However, I do have a zero tolerance policy on dishonesty, disrespect, or inappropriate behaviour and any such behaviour observed towards myself or anyone in the database will be resolved immediately.

To become a member and join the database is completely free!

In short, yes! About 5% of the database is made up of LGBTQ+ community members.
The pool is smaller, so the conditions are a bit different and I’m always happy to chat more about this individually.

Many people ask about signing up their friends or family members. Unfortunately, clients need to seek services independently. You can absolutely refer them to sign up for the database, though!
